CNOOC gas field begins production in China

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has announced that its 100% owned gas field, Yacheng 13-4 in the north part of the South China Sea, has started production.

The Yacheng 13-4 gas field situated about 72km southwest of Sanya, Hainan province, with an average water depth of approximately 85m is expected to reach peak production of 0.35 billion cubic meters per annum in 2013.

CNOOC executive vice president Chen Bi said, "The successful start-up of Yacheng 13-4 will make a contribution to achieve our production target this year."

The project was designed to use and share the currently available facilities of the Yacheng 13-1 gas field.

The company also constructed three new subsea production equipments which can be used for the overall development of its fields.

It has already arranged three development wells.

CNOOC is also the operator of the Yacheng 13-4 gas field.
